Before dusk at Yuiga-hama beach (Kamakura)

Just before the dusk arrives here, the low silver clouds illuminated by the sinking sun are drifting smoothly in the darkish blue sky.

The soft sound of the waves is heard perpetually like the breathing of the calm sea which is spreading out endlessly before me.

In that afternoon at Yuiga-hama beach (Kamakura)

In the dazzling afternoon sun, the magic of the sea reminds us of the forgotten memories of our innocent infancy.

The waving surface of the sea is sparkling brightly in sunlight as if to let us realize the true joy of life once again.

Sunset at Yuiga-hama beach (Kamakura)

A sea crow has glided past high in the amber evening sky.

Like this solitary seabird that flied away in the twinkling of an eye, we all live in a fleeting moment in eternity.

The winter sky at Yuiga-hama beach

In the dim beam of the winter sun falling through the thick, bluish-gray clouds, the dark surface of the sea is stirring calmly like one massive creature breathing gently in its long winter sleep.

In the slate gray of late afternoon, waves are lapping the sand slowly.

The chilly air of deep melancholy is hovering about this empty beach to present us with the stillness of solitude.

The steel blue sky and dark gray clouds were mirrored in the sands for one fleeting moment.

The sunset at Yuigahama-beach

Through the chilly and dry air of January, the sunset casted blazing glow over the sea.

The bright colors of nature have mostly faded away in this gloomy season. Precisely for this reason, we can again wake to the true value and preciousness of the beauty which this world gives us.

Golden waves at Yuiga-hama beach

The evening sun, which was quietly sinking behind the edge of hills, turned the lapping waves dark gold for a while.

The golden waves were softly beating upon the tranquil seashore without end.

The everlasting melodious sound of the sea made me hallucinate that the passage of time had stood still eternally in that setting sun.

A boy is running after the glowing setting sun which is about to hide from view.

He must know that this day never returns again.

The winter setting sun at Yuiga-hama beach

Under the dark and dense clouds, the golden evening sun was slowly sinking below the horizon.

The intense glow of the setting sun, which seemed to be colossal raging flames, spread like wildfire on the surface of the cold gloomy sea.

The autumnal sky at Yuiga-hama beach

Gentleness is one of the noble attributes of this season.

The gentle sun of the afternoon was softly emitting its transparent sunlight behind the bank of low clouds staying still over the distant horizon.

The sunset of Yuiga-hama beach

As the beach once again takes on its ordinary calmness after bustling sea bathers left all together, the dazzling glow of sunset characteristic of high summer appears step by step in the evening sky.

Winter sunset at Yuiga-hama beach

January capriciously presents us with the amazing evening glow filled with inexpressible hues as a token of apology for its cold and gloomy weather.

The setting sun at Yuiga-hama beach

On the beach, three local boys were absorbingly playing with sands in golden evening sunlight.

It seemed to me that the blessed glow of the setting sun was graciously beaming on these innocent boys.

The setting sun at Yuigahama beach

Yuigahama is a beach locating at the southern tip of the old shogunate city of Kamakura. Sometimes, thanks to the dry weather and clear sky of autumn, I encounter the amazing view of the setting sun and the quiet water of Sagami-bay.

The golden sun is setting in the west. In the Pure Land Buddhism of Japan, the Jyodo (Pure Land) of Amida-nyorai (amitaabha) Buddha is believed to locate distantly in the western direction. The reflection of the golden setting sun appeared to be a long sacred road to this Pure Land in the peaceful water of the sea.
